Whitson’s Gessaux is a clay and acrylic high build coating that can be used as a base for gilding and metal leaf applications. Gessaux is similar in usage to liquid casein products, however a liquid casein requires the use of a harmful preservative which Gessaux doesn’t need. Gessaux quickly builds in a similar way to traditional Gesso and can be sanded, burnished and carved into easily. It can be applied direct to wood or other supports including many painted substrates.
